Students enrolled in a French institution of higher education are required to pay the annual CVEC – State Student Services Tax. The State Student Services Tax was enacted in 2018 under the “Student Orientation and Success” law for the improvement of student integration, welcome services and facilities, social and health care, culture, and sports.

The CVEC is used to finance actions whose primary beneficiaries are students. These actions take different forms: health care, social assistance, sports, arts and culture, and welcome services.

Business School students are also concerned.

The CVEC concerns all full-time students of higher education enrolled in a French establishment and this includes Clermont School of Business students.

In 2022/23, the CVEC amounted to €95 for the full academic year (€100 in 2023/24).

This contribution is collected by the CROUS and gives students access to a wide range of services.

Some students may be excepted from the CVEC payment, depending on the case (e.g. Erasmus Exchange Students).
